SriLankan Airlines has fallen victim to a serious cyberattack, with hackers claiming to have seized control of the airline's core computer systems, Parliament was informed on Wednesday. MP Dayasiri Jayasekara disclosed the breach, stating that the threat actors had publicly announced their takeover of the carrier's IT infrastructure. The attack extended beyond core systems, with employee email accounts also compromised in the incident. The alleged hackers' public announcement of the breach underscores the scale and severity of the security failure. Mr Jayasekara called on the government to take urgent action to address the vulnerability and protect the airline's operations and customer data. The incident raises concerns about cybersecurity protocols at one of South Asia's major aviation operators and the broader digital security environment affecting critical national infrastructure.
