The national carrier said the decision to halt Riyadh services follows a recent security incident near Riyadh Airport and a comprehensive review of current security and operational conditions in the region. The airline made the announcement on Tuesday as it assesses developments in the Kingdom.
All passengers with bookings on affected flights have been notified of the suspension. The airline said it would continue to monitor the situation and provide updates as circumstances warrant.
The suspension marks a significant disruption to SriLankan Airlines' Middle East operations, which represent an important part of its network serving Sri Lankan expatriates and regional connectivity. Riyadh remains a key destination for the airline, with the Kingdom home to a substantial Sri Lankan workforce.
The airline has not specified alternative arrangements for passengers during the suspension period, though regional carriers continue normal operations to the destination. SriLankan Airlines has indicated it will resume services as soon as security and operational conditions permit.
