SriLankan Airlines suspends Saudi Arabia flights until November 1

SriLankan Airlines has temporarily suspended all flights between Colombo and two major Saudi Arabian cities—Dammam and Riyadh—effective immediately until November 1, according to an announcement from the airline's Corporate Communications Division on October 22.

The national carrier attributed the decision to the current security situation in the region. The suspension affects services to both destinations, disrupting travel arrangements for passengers with bookings during this period.

In its statement, SriLankan Airlines prioritised passenger and crew safety as the primary consideration underlying the operational decision. The airline did not provide specific details regarding the security concerns prompting the suspension.

The suspension represents a significant disruption to one of the airline's key international routes, as Saudi Arabia is a major destination for Sri Lankan expatriates and business travellers. The airline indicated it would reassess the situation and resume normal operations from November 1, subject to developments in regional conditions.

Passengers affected by the suspension have been advised to contact SriLankan Airlines directly for rebooking options and assistance with their travel plans.
