The trust board overseeing the historic Srisailam temple in Andhra Pradesh has greenlit a comprehensive master plan designed to shape the sacred shrine's development through 2054. According to trust officials, the strategic roadmap emphasises critical amenities that will improve the pilgrim experience at one of South India's most significant religious destinations.
The infrastructure priorities outlined in the plan centre on three key areas: expanding dormitory capacity to accommodate visiting devotees, upgrading toilet and sanitation facilities across the temple complex, and developing adequate parking infrastructure to manage vehicular traffic. These measures respond to the substantial pilgrim footfall the temple receives annually, necessitating enhanced accommodation and logistical support systems.
In a modernisation push, the master plan incorporates artificial intelligence-based monitoring technologies to enhance temple operations and security. Such systems are expected to streamline management processes and provide real-time oversight of temple facilities, reflecting the increasing adoption of digital solutions in heritage site administration across India.
The approval of the master plan represents a significant step in balancing the temple's preservation with contemporary infrastructure demands. Trust authorities indicated that the phased implementation strategy aims to maintain the sacred character of the site while systematically addressing capacity constraints that have emerged due to growing pilgrimage numbers in recent years.
