State to convene experts for human-wildlife conflict mitigation strategy

A state-level conclave is being organized to formulate a strategic response to the growing menace of human-wildlife conflicts affecting agricultural communities and wildlife habitats across the region. The minister leading the initiative has announced that the discussion platform will facilitate dialogue between diverse stakeholders tasked with finding sustainable solutions to the problem.

The conclave will convene experts from several leading research and academic institutions, including the Veterinary University, Kerala Agricultural University, the Indian Council of Agricultural Research, the Wildlife Institute of India, and the Kerala Forest Research Institute. These organizations bring specialized knowledge in veterinary science, agricultural practices, wildlife management, and ecological research.

Farmers and agricultural representatives will participate alongside researchers, ensuring that ground-level perspectives inform policy discussions. This collaborative approach aims to bridge the gap between scientific expertise and practical field experience in combating conflicts between wildlife and human activities.

The discussions are expected to address preventive measures, compensation mechanisms, and long-term strategies that balance agricultural interests with wildlife conservation objectives.
