Stellantis India targets faster vehicle development, increased local manufacturing
Stellantis India is aiming to slash new vehicle development timelines by half and expand localisation across its Citroen and Jeep brands. The automotive manufacturer plans to roll out 12 new products under its FaSTLAne 2030 strategy.

The multinational automotive group is targeting a dramatic reduction in product development cycles, cutting timelines from 48 months to approximately 24 months, according to Shailesh Hazela, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Stellantis India.
"Our global ambition is to compress vehicle development time significantly, and this mandate applies equally to our India operations," Hazela said. The accelerated development approach will apply to all upcoming launches under the FaSTLAne 2030 roadmap, which encompasses vehicles across both the Citroen and Jeep nameplates.
Stellantis leverages its engineering capabilities in India to support this objective. The company operates one of four major global technology centres in Bengaluru, which develops vehicles not only for its Indian market brands but also for models sold worldwide. This international mandate ensures the India engineering centre maintains alignment with the parent company's aggressive development targets.
The push for faster development cycles comes as Stellantis strengthens its manufacturing footprint in India through strategic partnerships. The company's localisation strategy aims to increase domestic content in select models, supporting both cost competitiveness and supply chain resilience in the region.
