Stellantis to pump ₹4,000 crore into India operations, launch 12 new vehicles

Stellantis, the parent company of Jeep and Citroën, is set to deepen its commitment to the Indian automotive market with a substantial ₹4,000 crore investment programme spanning the next three years. The capital deployment will underpin an aggressive product expansion strategy designed to strengthen the company's foothold in India's competitive passenger vehicle segment.

The automaker's roadmap includes launching seven completely new models alongside five significant refreshes of existing vehicles under both the Jeep and Citroën nameplates. This comprehensive product offensive targets a major scaling of operations, with the company projecting annual sales to reach approximately 45,000 units—representing a near-threefold increase from current levels.

The expansion comes as Stellantis seeks to capitalise on growing demand in India's SUV and entry-level sedan categories. Jeep, known for its sport utility vehicles, and Citroën, focusing on affordable family cars, together offer complementary product positioning across multiple price points. The diversified portfolio strategy reflects efforts to capture market share across different customer segments.

The initiative underscores multinational automakers' continued confidence in India's long-term market potential despite near-term economic headwinds. Industry observers suggest such investment announcements signal confidence in domestic consumption trends and favourable policy conditions for automotive manufacturing and sales in the country.
