The suspect was apprehended in the Nagahamulla area of Wellampitiya with a substantial quantity of controlled narcotics, according to STF officials. Officers recovered 716 grams of heroin and 255 grams of crystal methamphetamine, commonly known as 'Ice', during the operation. A Russian-manufactured micro pistol was also seized from the suspect's possession.
The arrested individual is alleged to be part of a criminal network connected to 'Angoda Priyankara', a fugitive who authorities believe has relocated to the United Arab Emirates. The network has been implicated in drug trafficking operations across the country.
The suspect is expected to be presented before a magistrate in connection with violations of the Dangerous Drugs Ordinance and related weapons charges. The seizure represents another significant step in law enforcement efforts to dismantle organized drug trafficking operations in Sri Lanka.
The STF has intensified operations targeting criminal networks involved in narcotics distribution following reports of increased drug-related activities in urban areas.
