Both the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) and National Stock Exchange (NSE) will function normally on August 28, the date of Raksha Bandhan, as the festival is not included in the official list of stock market holidays.

Raksha Bandhan, a significant Hindu festival celebrating the bond between siblings, falls outside the recognized market closure calendar. While many financial institutions and government offices may observe reduced operations or closures during major national and religious festivals, the equity markets maintain their regular trading schedule on this date.

Investors and traders are advised to proceed with their regular trading activities as per the normal market timings. The BSE and NSE typically publish an annual holiday calendar at the beginning of each financial year, which guides market participants on closure dates. Inclusion on this calendar is contingent on regulatory recognition rather than the religious or cultural significance of a festival.

Market participants should verify all trading schedules with their respective brokers and official exchange announcements to ensure they have the most current information regarding market operations.
