Sugar stocks extended their upward momentum on Tuesday following reports of a potential duty-free import plan, with leading producers posting significant intra-day gains across the market.
Avadh Sugar & Energy and Bajaj Hindustan emerged as the strongest performers, each climbing more than 6 per cent during trading. The surge reflected investor enthusiasm about the proposed policy framework and its anticipated impact on market dynamics within India's sugar sector.
Several other established players in the space also participated in the broader rally. Dwarikesh Sugar Industries, Shree Renuka Sugars, and Dhampur Sugar Mills all gained up to 5 per cent on the National Stock Exchange, indicating widespread positive sentiment across the industry.
The sector-wide appreciation suggested that market participants viewed the duty-free import proposal as a significant development for the sugar industry, though details regarding implementation timelines and scope remained limited. Analysts would likely focus on how such a policy, if implemented, might reshape domestic supply dynamics and pricing mechanisms across the Indian sugar market.
