PAGADIAN CITY, Zamboanga del Sur — Sulu province has officially attained a state of Stable Internal Peace and Security (SIPS), according to a formal declaration made during a ceremony at the provincial gymnasium on Thursday.
The achievement was formalized through Provincial Peace and Order Council Resolution No. 3, recognizing the province's progress in addressing long-standing security concerns that have affected communities across the region for generations.
The SIPS declaration represents a turning point for Sulu, which has endured repeated cycles of armed conflict and instability over the past several decades. The formal recognition acknowledges efforts by government agencies, local authorities, and community stakeholders in enhancing peace and security conditions throughout the province.
