SEREMBAN, Oct 7 — Wildlife authorities have intensified their search for a sun bear that continues to evade capture in Seremban, with Perhilitan expanding operations across multiple locations in the city.
The Department of Wildlife and National Parks (Perhilitan) has widened its patrol area around Taman Tuanku Ja'afar following confirmed sightings of the animal in the vicinity. Police have also stepped up their presence in the park and surrounding areas to assist with the search efforts and ensure public safety.
Sun bears, known for their distinctive white or cream-coloured chest markings, are native to South and Southeast Asia and are considered a protected species. The animal's presence in an urban area such as Seremban raises concerns about both public safety and the welfare of the bear itself.
Authorities have advised residents in the affected areas to remain vigilant and report any further sightings to Perhilitan immediately. The search operation continues as wildlife officials work to safely locate and relocate the bear to an appropriate facility.
