Sungai Johor Bridge safe despite vessel collision, operator says
Authorities have dismissed viral claims that the Sungai Johor Bridge in Kota Tinggi is unsafe following a vessel strike. The expressway operator maintains the crossing remains open to all traffic.

The Senai-Desaru Expressway Berhad (SDEB) has moved to address public concern over the structural integrity of the Sungai Johor Bridge after an incident involving a vessel collision circulated online in recent days.
In a statement, SDEB confirmed that the bridge had been struck by a vessel but stressed that comprehensive assessments determined no damage to critical infrastructure. The operator said all safety inspections were completed and documented, with findings showing the structure remains fit for use.
"The bridge continues to operate normally and safely for all road users," SDEB said, urging the public to disregard unverified claims suggesting otherwise. The operator did not disclose the date of the incident or specify details of the vessel involved.
The statement comes as viral social media posts alleged the bridge was unsafe and had been temporarily closed to traffic. SDEB's clarification aims to restore confidence in the crossing, which forms a key link on the expressway connecting Senai and Desaru in Johor.
