Super Typhoon Rosal enters Philippine waters; storm signals raised

Super Typhoon Rosal entered the Philippine area of responsibility (PAR) Tuesday morning, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) confirmed. The powerful storm, designated as Typhoon Champi on the international scale, triggered the issuance of Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal (TCWS) No. 1 over portions of Northern Luzon and Southern Luzon as a precautionary measure.

TCWS No. 1 indicates that the affected areas may experience winds of 30 to 60 kilometers per hour in the next 36 hours, with occasional gusts exceeding these speeds. Pagasa warned residents and authorities in the five affected areas to remain vigilant and take appropriate preparatory measures.

The state weather bureau is continuing to monitor Rosal's track and intensity. Updated advisories and signal adjustments are expected as the typhoon moves across Philippine waters. Residents, particularly in low-lying and mountainous areas, have been advised to prepare for potential flooding and landslides.

Pagesa urged the public to stay informed through official weather updates and to heed all warnings and directives from local disaster response authorities as the typhoon approaches.
