The Muslim business advocacy group has urged Putrajaya to place greater emphasis on bolstering the resilience of supply chain networks as a key factor in ensuring the survival and growth of small and medium enterprises across the country.
In its budget submission, Mukmin Malaysia highlighted the vulnerability of SMEs to disruptions in supply chain operations, citing the sector's critical importance to Malaysia's broader economic ecosystem. The group stressed that without adequate support structures and financial mechanisms, smaller businesses remain exposed to external shocks that could threaten their viability.
The advocacy group's recommendations come as Malaysian businesses continue to navigate challenges posed by global supply chain volatility and geopolitical uncertainties. Mukmin Malaysia has specifically called for government intervention through targeted financing schemes designed to help SMEs strengthen their supply chain operations and build greater operational flexibility.
The submission to the government forms part of broader pre-budget consultations ahead of the 2027 fiscal year planning cycle, during which various stakeholder groups have been presenting their priorities to policymakers.
