Supreme Court closes petitions on Ram Temple funds case after charge sheet filed

The Supreme Court has closed petitions filed in connection with alleged financial irregularities at the Ram Janmbhoomi temple in Ayodhya after the Uttar Pradesh government confirmed that a charge sheet has been filed in the case. The apex court's decision allows petitioners, including the Shri Ram Janmbhoomi Case Trust, Ajay Kumar Rai, Narendra Kumar Goswami, and Sudhakar Singh, to continue their involvement in the matter at the trial court level.

The court granted permission for the petitioners to assist and participate in further proceedings before the trial court, enabling them to monitor the case's progress through the judicial process. This move reflects the Supreme Court's preference for allowing concerned parties to engage with lower courts when substantive criminal proceedings are already underway.

The disposal of the petitions marks a transition from the appellate stage to active trial proceedings in the lower court. The charge sheet filed by the state government will form the basis for the trial, with the trial court now responsible for examining the allegations and hearing arguments from all parties involved.

The case centers on allegations of financial mismanagement related to funds and assets associated with the Ram Janmbhoomi temple trust. The involvement of multiple petitioners suggests significant public and institutional interest in ensuring transparency and accountability in the management of temple resources.
