Supreme Court Examines Allegations of Irregularities in Jharkhand Recruitment Exams

The Supreme Court is now seized of allegations of widespread irregularities in competitive examinations conducted by Jharkhand's recruitment agencies, with petitioners demanding a federal investigation into the matter. A public interest litigation has raised concerns over the fairness of the Jharkhand Public Service Commission (JPSC) examination and the Jharkhand Staff Selection Commission Combined Graduate Level (JSSC-CGL) test.

The petition specifically requests that the Central Bureau of Investigation be entrusted with conducting an impartial inquiry into the purported malpractices. Petitioners have expressed concerns that state-level investigations may not ensure the requisite transparency and independence required in such sensitive matters involving the recruitment of civil servants.

Parallel to the Supreme Court proceedings, a Special Investigation Team (SIT) constituted to probe the JSSC-CGL examination controversy has already questioned 37 suspects in connection with the case. The SIT's ongoing inquiry has widened the scope of the investigation, though petitioners maintain that a CBI-led probe would provide greater assurance of impartiality.
