Supreme Court launches Hindi information service to improve judicial accessibility

The Supreme Court on Monday launched 'Jan Soochna Seva', a Hindi-language public information service aimed at democratizing access to judicial information across India. The initiative coincided with celebrations of Hindi Diwas and represents the court's commitment to making justice more inclusive and comprehensible to the broader population.
Under the new service, the Supreme Court will disseminate simplified Hindi summaries of landmark judgments and orders. These will be complemented by audio and video bulletins, each lasting approximately 15 to 30 minutes, enabling citizens to understand court decisions in an accessible format.
The service has been designed with particular consideration for ordinary citizens, litigants, and persons with disabilities who may struggle with technical or complex legal language. By presenting judicial information in simplified Hindi alongside multimedia formats, the initiative seeks to bridge the gap between the legal system and the general public.
The Supreme Court stated that the service reflects its broader objective of linking respect for Indian languages with the dissemination of judicial information. Officials noted that the use of simple language and varied media formats will particularly benefit those who find lengthy legal documents difficult to comprehend or access, thereby advancing the constitutional promise of equal justice for all citizens.
