Supreme Court lawyer killed in hit-and-run incident near Delhi; driver arrested

A Supreme Court lawyer was killed and his wife critically injured when a Thar SUV hit their scooter in Greater Noida West, police said. The vehicle's driver, identified as Ashish Paul, fled the scene following the collision but was subsequently apprehended by law enforcement authorities.
The deceased has been identified as Neeraj Kumar Sinha, a practising advocate at the Supreme Court. His wife, Nishi Srivastava, sustained severe injuries in the impact and was admitted to a local hospital where she remains under treatment.
Police registered a case against the driver for rash and negligent driving and hit-and-run offences under relevant sections of Indian law. Investigators are examining the circumstances that led to the collision, including the vehicle's speed at the time of impact. The case highlights ongoing concerns about reckless driving and traffic safety on roads in the National Capital Region.
