Supreme Court Orders Former Tehelka Editor Tarun Tejpal to Surrender Within Two Weeks

The Supreme Court has dealt a significant blow to Tarun Tejpal, the former editor-in-chief of news magazine Tehelka, rejecting his request for exemption from surrender proceedings. The apex court has directed Tejpal to surrender within two weeks and submit a surrender certificate to the court.

Tejpal had approached the court seeking relief from the requirement to physically surrender, but his arguments failed to convince the bench. The court has fixed September 22 as the deadline by which the former journalist must complete the surrender formalities and file the requisite certificate with the court.

Following Tejpal's surrender and submission of the certificate, the court will schedule the next hearing in the case. The development marks another setback for the prominent media figure, whose legal battle has stretched over several years.
