The High Powered Enquiry Committee (HPEC), chaired by retired Supreme Court judge Justice R Subhash Reddy, will convene for two days at Shiksha Sadan on Rouse Avenue to examine alleged misconduct during the demonstrations. The panel will begin proceedings from 11 am each day, with members of the public able to submit complaints and evidence between 11:30 am and 3 pm, officials confirmed Saturday. Valid identity documentation will be required for all participants.
The committee's mandate encompasses investigation of multiple allegations stemming from the July protests. The inquiry will specifically focus on alleged use of pellet guns, targeted violence against demonstrators, and reports of harassment directed at female protesters. Beyond these targeted areas, the panel will also examine broader claims of excessive force and instances of property damage attributed to both sides of the conflict.
Members of the affected public are invited to present firsthand accounts and supporting evidence during the two-day sitting. The committee's investigation represents a significant step in the judicial examination of the controversial demonstrations that drew considerable attention to concerns about law enforcement conduct and civilian rights protection.
