Supreme Court seeks government response on barangay election delay petition

The Supreme Court has directed the Office of the President and other respondents to submit their comments on a constitutional challenge to the postponement of barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) elections.

Election law specialist Romulo Macalintal filed the petition arguing that Republic Act No. 12326, which authorized the deferment, violates constitutional provisions. The petition seeks a declaration of the law's unconstitutionality and a halt to the election postponement.
