Supreme Court Sets Up Panel To Vet Noida Housing Claimants
The apex court has constituted a single-judge committee to authenticate eligible beneficiaries in a long-pending housing dispute involving over 800 flat allottees in Noida. The move follows the court's 2022 directive ordering the authorities to allocate multi-storey units to verified members.

The Supreme Court has established a dedicated verification panel to determine genuine claimants among those seeking flats under a significant housing allocation scheme in Noida. The single-judge committee has been tasked with scrutinizing claims filed by approximately 844 identified members of a registered society, ensuring that only legitimate beneficiaries receive allotted units.
This development represents a step forward in resolving a protracted dispute that has kept hundreds of flat applicants in limbo. In 2022, the apex court had issued binding instructions to the New Okhla Industrial Development Authority (NOIDA) to distribute multi-storeyed residential units to the identified society members, contingent upon proper verification of their claims.
The verification process is expected to address discrepancies and establish the authenticity of claimants before final allotments are made. The committee's findings will determine which applicants qualify for the housing allocation and expedite the resolution of what has been a contentious issue for the affected residents.
With the appointment of the single-judge panel, the Supreme Court has reinforced its commitment to ensuring transparent and fair distribution of the housing units while maintaining accountability in the implementation of its earlier orders.
