Supreme Court to examine EC's voter enrollment clarification for Delhi on November 19
The Supreme Court has scheduled November 19 to hear a petition challenging the Election Commission's recent directive that allows voters omitted from draft electoral rolls to apply for fresh enrollment through Form 6 during Delhi's special intensive revision of voter lists.

A bench led by Chief Justice Surya Kant, along with justices Joymalya Bagchi and V Mohana, will take up the matter for full hearing next month. The court has directed petitioners Anjali Bharadwaj and Amrita Johri to file a formal application placing the Election Commission's November 3 clarification on the court record before the scheduled hearing.
Advocate Prashant Bhushan, representing the petitioners, brought the issue to the court's attention, contending that the Election Commission's recent clarification appeared to contradict earlier Supreme Court directions. The petitioners have raised concerns about the implications of allowing fresh voter enrollments during the special intensive revision process in Delhi.
Assuring the petitioners that their concerns are being taken seriously, Chief Justice Kant said the court would examine the matter thoroughly. The bench also indicated a willingness to consider extending the deadline for the electoral roll revision if necessary, should the circumstances warrant such an extension during the November 19 hearing.
The special intensive revision of electoral rolls in Delhi has become a matter of judicial scrutiny following the Election Commission's move to permit voters whose names were excluded from draft electoral rolls to seek fresh enrollment through the prescribed Form 6 procedure.
