Security personnel conducted the operation targeting the suspected Dawlah Islamiya commander and his associates in Sultan Mastura, a municipality in Maguindanao del Norte. The engagement resulted in the deaths of the suspected militant leader and three of his companions, according to officials overseeing the enforcement action.
The operation was carried out by combined government forces coordinating across multiple law enforcement agencies. The Criminal Investigation and Detection Group–Regional Field Unit 15 in the Bangsamoro region participated in the enforcement effort, which targeted known militants in the volatile area.
Dawlah Islamiya has been classified as a terrorist organization by the Philippine government and has conducted multiple attacks in the southern Philippines in recent years. The group has sought to establish an Islamic caliphate in the Mindanao region and has maintained ties to international jihadist networks.
The operation underscores ongoing counterterrorism efforts in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao, where security forces regularly conduct operations against extremist groups. Authorities continue to pursue suspected militants and dismantle organizational structures of designated terrorist organizations operating in the region.
