Suzlon to spend ₹550 crore on three AI-enabled blade factories

Suzlon Group is committing ₹550 crore to construct three artificial intelligence-powered blade manufacturing plants as part of a strategic expansion aimed at accelerating order fulfilment and capturing growing demand in India's renewable energy sector. The investment will be funded entirely through internal resources, according to the company's co-founder Girish Tanti.

Two of the new facilities will be located in Gujarat and Karnataka, while the third will be established in Tamil Nadu at a capital expenditure of ₹200 crore. The remaining funds will be allocated between the western and southern facilities. These plants are expected to commence operations by 2027, enhancing Suzlon's manufacturing footprint across key regions.

The expansion will elevate Suzlon's total blade factory count to eight facilities, positioning the company to command India's largest intelligent wind manufacturing capacity with an aggregate of 18 production units nationwide. The group currently operates five blade factories in Jaisalmer, Bhuj, Ratlam, Dhule and Anantapur. Strategic placement of the new facilities near wind project sites is expected to optimise logistics and reduce supply chain costs.

The move underscores Suzlon's commitment to modernising its manufacturing infrastructure through automation and artificial intelligence integration, addressing the accelerating demand from India's expanding wind power sector as the nation pursues ambitious renewable energy targets.
