Swiggy cuts losses as food delivery, quick commerce units gain traction

Swiggy's financial performance in the July-September quarter showed signs of operational progress, with the company reporting lower losses despite continued investments in growth. The food delivery business delivered adjusted EBITDA of ₹341 crore, up ₹101 crore from the same quarter last year, indicating improved profitability in its core segment. Revenue across the platform grew 36 per cent year-on-year, reflecting sustained demand for online food ordering and quick commerce services.

The company's quick commerce vertical, Instamart, demonstrated sequential momentum with gross order value rising 16.7 per cent to ₹9,230 crore during the quarter. The performance underscores the growing consumer appetite for fast delivery services in Indian urban markets, where the segment has seen intensifying competition from rivals including Blinkit and Zepto.

Swiggy's improving unit economics come as the company continues to scale operations while managing costs amid a competitive landscape. The narrowing of quarterly losses suggests the platform is moving closer to profitability despite earlier expansion-focused strategies. The company has previously signalled confidence in achieving positive adjusted EBITDA across all business lines.
