TAGAYTAY CITY — Taal Volcano continues to display heightened seismic activity, with the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) documenting significant earthquake and tremor counts over the past day.
According to Phivolcs data released Friday, the volcano registered 29 volcanic earthquakes accompanied by 20 volcanic tremors in a single 24-hour monitoring window. The tremor episodes ranged in duration from one to 11 minutes each, reflecting the volatile conditions beneath the volcano.
The latest activity marks a continuation of unrest initially observed in late October. Between October 20 and 22, Phivolcs recorded 10 volcanic earthquakes and nine tremors at the volcano, which sits approximately 65 kilometers south of Manila.
Phivolcs maintains continuous monitoring of Taal Volcano and regularly updates the public on seismic conditions. Residents in nearby communities remain advised to stay alert to official updates from volcanology authorities regarding any potential changes in volcanic alert levels.
