Taal Volcano Seismic Activity Declines, Phivolcs Reports

Taal Volcano in Batangas has registered decreased seismic activity, according to monitoring data released Tuesday by the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs). The volcano recorded six volcanic earthquakes and a single sustained tremor within the past 24 hours, marking a notable decline from previous activity levels.
The prolonged tremor lasted approximately 420 minutes, Phivolcs said in its latest bulletin. Despite the extended duration of the tremor, the overall frequency and intensity of seismic events at the volcano appear to be diminishing.
Phivolcs continuously monitors Taal Volcano, one of the Philippines' most active volcanic systems located in the densely populated region south of Metro Manila. The institute regularly issues updates on seismic activity and volcanic conditions to inform residents and local government units in nearby communities.
The latest measurements come as authorities maintain vigilance over the volcano's behavior. Phivolcs recommends that residents and local government units in areas surrounding the volcano remain alert to any changes in volcanic activity and heed all advisories from the agency.
