Taal Volcano registered 34 volcanic earthquakes within a 24-hour monitoring period, according to the latest bulletin from the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs). The marked increase in seismic events represents a substantial jump from previous readings, signaling intensified volcanic activity beneath the volcano.

The seismic surge follows a recent phreatomagmatic eruption at the volcano, which straddles the Batangas-Cavite border. Phreatomagmatic eruptions occur when magma interacts with water, creating steam-driven explosions that can be particularly hazardous to surrounding communities.

Phivolcs continues to monitor Taal Volcano closely through its network of seismic stations and other detection equipment. The institute issues regular bulletins to track volcanic behavior and alert authorities and residents in nearby areas to potential hazards.

The volcano remains under close observation as scientists assess the current volcanic unrest and its implications for the surrounding region. Residents in barangays near the volcano are advised to stay informed through official channels regarding any changes in volcanic alert levels or evacuation orders.
