KORONADAL CITY — Mayor Lina Montilla of Tacurong City has ordered the suspension of in-person classes at all educational institutions under municipal jurisdiction, effective September 21, in response to a deadly shooting at Banga National High School in neighboring South Cotabato province.
The directive covers all public and private schools operating in the city across all academic levels, from preschool through tertiary education. Students and teachers have been directed to shift to alternative learning modes, which typically include online classes and remote instruction methods, pending further notice.
The shooting at the South Cotabato school prompted the precautionary measure to ensure student and staff safety. The temporary suspension of face-to-face classes reflects heightened security concerns in the broader Mindanao region following the incident.
