The Taguig City government moved to distance itself from claims of illegal reclamation work at Laguna Lake on Saturday, stating that the area inspected by authorities was not under municipal possession or control. City officials argued that the property featured in a video released by Senator Panfilo Lacson does not belong to or is not being utilized by the city government. The statement came as government agencies conducted inspections following Lacson's public disclosure of the alleged unauthorized activities. The senator had presented video evidence purporting to show reclamation work in progress at the Taguig side of Laguna Lake. Taguig city officials maintained they would cooperate fully with any ongoing investigations while clarifying their non-involvement in the matter. The incident underscores ongoing concerns about environmental compliance and land development practices in Metro Manila's waterfront areas.
