Taiwan lawmakers back $7.6bn drone programme amid China concerns

Taiwan's legislature has endorsed a $7.6 billion expenditure package for drone technology and development, marking a significant defence investment as regional tensions intensify. The parliamentary approval came after lawmakers rejected an earlier government spending plan, instead backing an alternative proposal championed by opposition parties.

The opposition Kuomintang (KMT) and Taiwan People's Party (TPP) jointly supported the revised budget allocation, securing sufficient parliamentary backing for the initiative.
