Tamil Nadu announces 2027 public holiday calendar for state

The Tamil Nadu government has published its comprehensive public holiday schedule for 2027, enabling residents and organisations to plan their activities accordingly. The notification outlines all gazetted holidays applicable across the state during the calendar year.

The holiday calendar encompasses major national observances including Republic Day, Independence Day, and Gandhi Jayanti, alongside state-specific festivals and regional celebrations significant to Tamil culture and traditions. The government has also included holidays for major religious festivals observed by various communities across the state.

The release of the advance holiday calendar follows the standard annual practice of the state administration to provide advance notice to government departments, private institutions, and the general public. This enables employees, students, and businesses to coordinate leave applications, plan operations, and schedule important activities around these designated holidays.

The full list of holidays, complete with dates and festival names, has been made available through official government channels. Residents and organisations are advised to refer to the official notification for precise details regarding which offices and institutions will remain closed on specific dates throughout 2027.
