Polling in the Madurantakam and Dharapuram assembly segments of Tamil Nadu progressed at a measured pace on bypolls day, with voter turnout reaching 35.55% and 37.28% respectively by 11 a.m. The exercise, however, was not without operational challenges as election officials worked to address technical difficulties that emerged at multiple polling stations.
In Madurantakam, electronic voting machines (EVMs) encountered glitches at two polling stations, prompting officials to engage technical teams for troubleshooting. The issues were contained to specific booths and did not significantly disrupt the overall polling process across the segment.
Dharapuram witnessed a more serious disruption when voting was temporarily halted at one booth, though authorities did not immediately specify the underlying cause. The suspension was expected to be brief as poll officials moved to resolve the matter and resume normal voting procedures.
The mid-morning turnout figures suggested a steady voter engagement in both constituencies, with officials indicating that polling would continue through the scheduled hours. Election authorities remained on alert to address any further technical or procedural issues that might arise during the remainder of the day.
