Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin has approved the provision of 45 kilograms of sandalwood to Nagore Dargah in Nagapattinam district for use during the Kandoori festival celebrations. The order was formally handed over, ensuring the sacred dargah has the essential supplies required for the traditional festival observances.
Nagore Dargah, one of South India's most prominent Islamic shrines, celebrates the Kandoori festival annually, attracting devotees from across Tamil Nadu and neighboring states. The supply of sandalwood, considered significant in the shrine's ritual practices, underscores the state government's commitment to supporting religious and cultural institutions.
The decision was communicated during official proceedings at the Secretariat on Thursday, where the Chief Minister was also attended to by recently promoted officers of the Tamil Nadu State Civil Service who were appointed to the Indian Administrative Service. The administrative transition reflects the state's continued focus on institutional strengthening alongside cultural and religious patronage.
