Tamil Nadu CM inaugurates electrical labs at 30 ITIs amid expansion push

Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay formally opened the electrical laboratories at an event held at Guindy Industrial Training Institute in Chennai, marking a significant expansion of technical education infrastructure across the state. The 30 government ITIs benefiting from the new facilities span multiple districts, aimed at enhancing hands-on training capabilities for students pursuing electrical trades and related vocational courses.

The newly inaugurated labs are equipped with modern electrical equipment and testing apparatus designed to provide students with practical experience aligned with industry standards. Officials indicated that the labs would support instruction in wiring, circuit analysis, power systems, and equipment maintenance—core components of electrical technician training programmes.

Looking ahead, the state government has announced plans to establish 40 additional electrical laboratories across other government ITIs in the coming months. This phased expansion reflects the administration's commitment to strengthening vocational education infrastructure and improving employment readiness among technical trainees across Tamil Nadu.

The initiative is expected to benefit thousands of students enrolled in electrical and allied technical programmes across the state's government ITI network, potentially enhancing job prospects in the industrial and service sectors where skilled electrical technicians are in demand.
