Tamil Nadu CM mobilises rescue efforts for 103 pilgrims stranded in Nepal floods

A total of 103 residents from Tamil Nadu who were on a pilgrimage in Nepal found themselves trapped as catastrophic floods swept through the Himalayan nation on Wednesday. The natural disaster disrupted travel routes and communication networks, leaving the pilgrims in precarious circumstances.

Responding swiftly to the crisis, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin has tasked state ministers and government officials with overseeing coordinated rescue and relief operations. The directive emphasises the immediate need to locate the stranded group and establish secure evacuation routes.

State authorities have been instructed to maintain constant contact with central government agencies and Nepali authorities to facilitate the safe passage of the Tamil Nadu pilgrims. Officials are working to gather updated information on the group's exact location and their current condition amid ongoing flood-related challenges in the region.

The flood situation in Nepal has affected multiple districts, with landslides and swollen rivers creating significant impediments to movement and rescue operations across several areas.
