Tamil Nadu CM seeks Modi's backing for cross-border Metro Rail project

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin has written to Prime Minister Narendra Modi requesting central approval for a Metro Rail corridor connecting Hosur and Bommasamudra, describing the inter-State project as vital for both Tamil Nadu and Karnataka. The proposed link would serve as a crucial transportation infrastructure connecting the two States and facilitate economic integration in the region.

In his appeal, Stalin emphasized that the project would unlock development potential in the border areas while strengthening connectivity between the neighbouring States. The Chief Minister highlighted the strategic importance of such cross-border infrastructure in promoting regional growth and commerce.

Beyond the Hosur-Bommasamudra corridor, Stalin has also urged the Prime Minister to reassess Metro Rail proposals for Coimbatore and Madurai. The Chief Minister contended that these projects are essential for sustaining economic growth in Tamil Nadu's western and southern regions, which face increasing urbanization and transportation demands.

The appeals reflect the State government's focus on leveraging central infrastructure investment to support long-term development goals across different geographical zones of Tamil Nadu. Officials indicated that the proposed Metro projects align with national priorities for urban mobility and inter-State connectivity.
