Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin pressed the Prime Minister to release Rs 5,110 crore in pending central government funds owed to the state without any conditions during a meeting in Chennai on Tuesday.
Staling raised the issue of pending allocations under the State Special Assistance (SSA) scheme, which have been withheld from the state for an extended period. The Chief Minister emphasized the urgent need for the central government to clear these outstanding dues to support the state's development initiatives.
During the same engagement, Stalin also sought accelerated approval for Phase-3 of the Chennai Metro Rail project. The expansion project is critical for alleviating congestion in the state capital and enhancing public transportation infrastructure.
The demand for central fund releases comes as Tamil Nadu continues to press the central government for its rightful share of resources under various schemes. State officials have flagged the delays in fund disbursement as hampering the implementation of key infrastructure and welfare projects across the state.
