Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin unveiled a new support scheme for legislators on Wednesday, providing government-allocated vehicles to all 234 MLAs across the state. The announcement includes monthly allocations of ₹75,000 to cover driver salaries, fuel costs and vehicle maintenance, alongside an additional ₹25,000 monthly allowance for office assistant expenses.
The decision aims to standardize transportation and administrative support across the assembly, ensuring all elected representatives have consistent resources for their constituency work and official duties. Officials said the vehicle allocation would be implemented across all assembly segments in the coming months.
The move comes as the Tamil Nadu government continues to focus on strengthening institutional support systems for its legislative body. The scheme is expected to streamline operational expenses and enhance the capacity of MLAs to serve their respective constituencies more effectively.
CM Stalin stated that the initiative reflects the government's commitment to supporting elected representatives in their legislative and constituent service responsibilities. The allocation represents a significant increase in administrative support infrastructure for the state assembly.
