Tamil Nadu dairy minister credits price revision for surge in milk procurement

Minister for Dairy Development C. Vijayalakshmi on Tuesday linked the rising momentum in milk procurement across Tamil Nadu to recent adjustments in procurement prices. The move reflects efforts to incentivize dairy farmers and boost production in the state's cooperative dairy sector.

During a visit to Tiruchi, Vijayalakshmi launched full cream milk and curd cups under the Aavin brand, the state's dairy cooperative flagship. The product launch underscores the sector's focus on expanding its consumer offerings amid increased procurement volumes.

The minister also conducted a review of the Tiruchi District Cooperative Milk Producers' Union at the Collectorate, examining operational efficiency and coordination between dairy cooperatives and district administration. The oversight visit signals continued government attention to strengthening institutional mechanisms within the dairy supply chain.

The price revision initiative aligns with Tamil Nadu's broader push to enhance dairy sector competitiveness and ensure sustainable income for milk producers across the state's cooperative network.
