The district collector in Cuddalore has undertaken a systematic review of dengue prevention initiatives amid growing concerns over mosquito-borne disease transmission in Tamil Nadu. Residents have been directed to remove discarded items and household waste that could accumulate stagnant water, a primary breeding ground for Aedes mosquitoes responsible for dengue transmission. The administration has emphasized the importance of preventing water from pooling in common household articles such as flower pots, unused containers, and worn-out utensils.
District authorities have also mandated regular maintenance of elevated water storage facilities, with guidelines recommending that overhead tanks be cleaned thoroughly at least once weekly. This measure aims to prevent mosquito larvae from developing in stored water supplies, a critical vector control strategy in dengue-endemic regions.
