The Tamil Nadu government has raised the upper age limit for direct recruitment into government services by five years, broadening the pool of eligible candidates for state employment opportunities. The decision comes as the state seeks to enhance access to public sector positions across various departments and services.
The age limit extension will be implemented in conjunction with existing age relaxation provisions already available to candidates from backwards classes (BC), BC (Muslims), most backwards classes and destitute non-agricultural classes (MBC/DNC), scheduled castes (SC), scheduled tribes (ST), and destitute widows. These groups will continue to benefit from their designated concessions while also gaining the advantage of the overall extended upper age limit.
The move is expected to provide additional opportunities for a broader range of candidates seeking to enter Tamil Nadu's civil services and government employment sectors. Officials indicated that the revised recruitment parameters would streamline the selection process while ensuring equitable access to public sector jobs across various demographic groups.
