Tamil Nadu farmer dies after electric shock in Ranipet district

A farmer in Ranipet district died after receiving an electric shock while working on his agricultural land, officials said. The incident occurred when the farmer came into contact with live electrical equipment or exposed wiring in the field, resulting in immediate electrocution.

Local police and revenue department officials visited the site following the incident. A preliminary investigation has been initiated to determine the exact circumstances that led to the fatality and to identify any lapses in electrical safety measures.

Electrocution remains a recurring occupational hazard for farming communities across India, particularly during monsoon seasons when moisture increases electrical conductivity risks. Authorities have urged farmers to exercise caution around electrical installations and to report damaged or faulty wiring in agricultural areas to district officials immediately.

The farmer's body has been sent for post-mortem examination. Ranipet district administration has indicated that it will review electrical safety protocols in farming zones to prevent similar incidents in the future.
