Tamil Nadu govt dissolves Centre-State relations panel
The newly-formed TVK government in Tamil Nadu has disbanded a panel focused on Centre-State relations. Officials cited administrative reorganisation as the reason for the decision.

The Tamil Nadu government led by the Tamil Maanila Congress (Moopanar) has dissolved a committee that was established to manage relations between the state and central authorities. A government minister confirmed the dissolution, attributing the move to streamlining administrative structures following the recent change in administration.
The panel, which had been tasked with coordinating on federal matters and inter-governmental issues, was deemed redundant under the current governance framework. The TVK administration indicated that the committee's responsibilities would be absorbed into existing departmental functions to improve efficiency and reduce bureaucratic layers.
The disbandment reflects the new government's approach to reshaping institutional arrangements inherited from the previous administration. State officials maintained that the decision would not hamper coordination with the Union government, as relevant matters would continue to be addressed through established departmental channels.
This development comes as the TVK government consolidates its administrative machinery following its electoral victory. The reorganisation is expected to be part of a broader review of committees and councils established by the previous regime.
