Law enforcement agencies have launched a coordinated search operation after inmates escaped from a correctional facility in Theni district, Tamil Nadu. The escape has prompted authorities to broaden their manhunt beyond state borders, with Kerala police now on alert following notification from Tamil Nadu officials.
Special task forces have distributed photographs and identification details of the escapees to police personnel stationed at various locations throughout Tamil Nadu and neighbouring Kerala. The circulation of fugitive images aims to facilitate swift identification and apprehension across jurisdictional boundaries.
Police have deployed combing operations in densely forested regions surrounding the prison facility, recognizing that escapees may attempt to evade capture by moving through challenging terrain. Officials coordinating the search have indicated that operations remain active across multiple zones and geographical features that could provide cover for those attempting to flee.
The inter-state coordination reflects standard protocol in major jail break incidents, ensuring that escape routes into neighbouring states are adequately monitored. Authorities have not disclosed additional details regarding the identities of escapees or circumstances surrounding the breakout at this stage of the investigation.
