Tamil Nadu launches grievance redressal centre for social justice hostel students

Tamil Nadu Social Justice Minister Vanni Arasu on Tuesday inaugurated a control centre designed to streamline grievance redressal for students housed in the state's social justice hostels. The facility represents an effort to improve living conditions and institutional responsiveness for vulnerable student populations dependent on government accommodation.

The control centre will handle complaints concerning food quality, meal services, and accommodation-related issues submitted by hostel residents. Students can lodge grievances by contacting the dedicated helpline at +91 73388 01456, ensuring a centralized system for addressing concerns that previously may have been scattered across multiple channels.

The initiative aligns with Tamil Nadu's broader commitment to supporting economically disadvantaged students pursuing higher education. Social justice hostels serve as critical infrastructure for students from marginalized communities, and the dedicated grievance mechanism aims to enhance accountability and service standards across these facilities.

By establishing a single point of contact for hostel-related complaints, authorities hope to expedite issue resolution and improve overall student welfare. The control centre's operations will likely provide the government with data on systemic challenges within hostel management, potentially informing future policy improvements.
