Tamil Nadu minister denies DMK blocked Kamaraj Marina burial plan

Minister Thangam Thennarasu addressed the allegations in the Tamil Nadu Assembly, drawing extensively from a speech delivered by Rajaram Naidu in the Legislative Council to substantiate his position. According to the minister, the initial plan for Kamaraj's arrangements did not involve Marina Beach as the burial location.

Thennarasu outlined that the original proposal was to keep Kamaraj's body at the Teynampet Congress ground, where the cremation would take place followed by the construction of a memorial at the same venue. This plan preceded any discussions about alternative sites.

The minister's clarification comes amid questions about the government's handling of arrangements for the revered freedom fighter and former Chief Minister. Kamaraj, who led Tamil Nadu in the 1950s and 1960s, remains a significant figure in the state's political history and public consciousness.

The DMK government's statement seeks to establish that no denial of a burial site at Marina occurred, as the venue was never part of the approved arrangements. The minister's reliance on legislative records underscores the government's attempt to provide documentary evidence supporting its position on the matter.
