Tamil Nadu's TVK formally aligns with INDIA opposition bloc

The Tamil Maanila Congress (Moopanar), a regional political party in Tamil Nadu, has officially joined the INDIA bloc, strengthening the opposition coalition's presence in the southern state. The formal entry was confirmed at a meeting of alliance leaders, signalling the party's commitment to the broader anti-BJP political front.

As part of its engagement with the INDIA alliance, TVK has pledged to participate in joint demonstrations targeting the Union government and election authorities. The party will focus its activism on raising concerns about what it characterizes as threats to democratic institutions and governance practices.

In a coordinated show of strength, the INDIA bloc has scheduled 'Save Democracy' protests across Tamil Nadu's district headquarters for October 13 and 14. These demonstrations represent a unified opposition response to what alliance members view as challenges to constitutional democracy.

The addition of TVK to the INDIA bloc underscores efforts by opposition parties to consolidate their political strength ahead of major electoral contests. The alliance, which brings together several national and regional parties, continues to expand its footprint across India's states, with Tamil Nadu emerging as a key battleground for political mobilization.
